CBS Television Stations consists of 29 owned-and-operated stations, including 16 that are part of the CBS Television Network, eight affiliates of The CW Network, three independent stations and two MyNetworkTV affiliates. DESCRIPTION:

CBS 2 / WLNY is seeking a freelance Sports Anchor with major market experience and proven leadership skills. The ideal candidate will thrive on breaking sports news; has high journalistic standards and will bring fresh, innovative ideas to a vibrant newsroom.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited, to:

• Covering news events, writing stories and preparing for newscasts.
• Providing sports reports for WCBS-TV and WLNY-TV news programs.
• Participating in the selection of sports news information for the presenatation to viewers.
• Researching information for accuracy, generating enterprising and relevant story ideas and following through the production and report of same.
• Covering stories outside of the station live and on location.
• Writing clear and interesting copy and using video and graphics to illustrate facts and ideas of the story; presenting stories in an interesting manner while maintaining a high degree of professionalism and accuracy.
• Interviewing guests appropriate to the stories being presented.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

Candidate should have a minimum of 5 years of comparable television experience, with a minimum of 3 years as a Sports Anchor working in the local market or at network television. Must have excellent presentation and both oral and written communication skills; must be able to multi-task and meet deadlines. Candidate must have the demonstrated ability to develop and research stories. Ability to collaborate with all levels of personnel both inside and outside of the Company. Must be able to effectively report live and be engaging. Bachelor’s degree in Communications and/or Journalism preferred. Must also be able to work weekends and holidays.
