About the Role:
Corus Entertainment is looking for an experienced Network Programmer to lead the Programming strategy and Scheduling team Canada’s top Conventional network; Global TV as well as the drama portfolio of channels including top specialty networks; Showcase and W Network.
Reporting to the VP, Programming and Multi-Platform, you will be responsible for leading a team of programmers across the Conventional and Specialty networks to design and deploy smart, strategic schedules that engage audiences and drive revenue across platforms.
As the leader on Canada’s top Conventional entertainment network Global TV; you will work closely with the U.S partner studios to maximize all simulcast opportunities and be an active partner working with internal departments to seamlessly deploy the network schedules to drive ratings.

You should be able to work in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, with the ability to be nimble and problem solve quickly. You are passionate about the television, content and the ever changing media-industry. You take initiative, excel at strategic planning, problem solving, and can lead a team with energy and authenticity.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead the strategic scheduling and program planning for linear and on-demand platforms for Global TV and the Drama portfolio of channel brands
  • Manage the Global schedule ensuring the internal teams are in synch on upcoming schedule needs, air-dates, program changes, delivery dates and key programming stunts and initiatives
  • Establish and maintain strong collaborative and communicative relationships with multiple departments including: Research, Original Production, Digital, Marketing, Publicity, Sales, Finance, Legal, Master Control and Operations
  • Work closely with Program Finance to ensure that ongoing schedule changes are tracked, and budgets are updated reflecting most current forecast
  • Own and understand the program rights within the partner agreements to ensure rights are maximized and adhered to
  • Build and manage strong relationships with US partners
  • Make recommendations on programming acquisitions and scheduling strategy to drive optimal ratings performance and revenue
  • Lead and mentor a team of program schedulers
  • Track and monitor network performance on Global and Drama portfolio, as well as competitors and U.S networks
  • Support VP and SVP with financial and presentation requirements
About You

  • A TV-lover with a passion for television, and programming
  • Post-secondary degree (university or college)
  • 10+ years working within the broadcast industry with proven management experience
  • Strong time-management, prioritization and organization skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to progress multiple projects in parallel
  • Creative thinker with the ability to challenge the status quo
  • Lean-forward bias to collaborate and drive results
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to resolve conflicts, provide motivation and build team morale
  • Strong communication skills
  • Exceptional ability in working to tight deadlines and dealing with urgent issues
  • Knowledge of CRTC regulations
  • Experience using S4M or a broadcast management system
